Letter from the Co-founder of Global Aliya Foundation

Cultivating Excellence, Care, and Service

I am writing this letter to share my excitement about the project we are doing in Indonesia. We have been working to promote excellence, compassion and service through educating our youth. Our programs include early education (PAUD Sophia), English training for kids (Global English), study hall sessions, workshop on how to hunt scholarship, national conference on education and character building, transformative session during Ramadan, and other related activities. We are planning to expand our educational programming in the 2017-2018 academic year by starting a middle school. We envision to provide youth in need with high quality and affordable education. In the last three years, we have offered programs that cultivate youth's excellence, compassion, and service. We plan to advance such programs in a more formal educational setting. To achieve this goal, we would like to invite you to be part of this endeavor.

Four important goals are at the heart of Global Aliya Foundation:

  1. To cultivate human excellence through education, advocacy, and training based on mutual understanding among people across cultures and religions.
  2. To foster compassion and assistance in areas of humanitarian affairs.
  3. To promote advocacy for peace, nonviolence, social and gender justice, and intra/inter-religious harmony.
  4. To provide services to enhance human spiritual, mental, and physical well-being.

Several initiatives have been launched since the organization was first established. These initiatives were developed through understanding and prioritizing educational and social needs of youth:

1 on 1 Friendship Program—Cross-cultural, internet-based social network intended to advance cross-cultural network and engaged leadership through shared knowledge and collaboration for social justice. Through One-on-One Friendship, mentoring is also available for middle school, high school, and university students in Indonesia with the aim of advancing academic skills.

Transformative Educational Program—Educational training in Indonesia to improve academic skills for less privileged students and institutions, with emphasis on teaching moderate Islam to children and youth.

Adopt a Student Program—Financial support for talented Indonesian students, so they can continue their studies.

Library Program—An ever-growing selection of reading for students of all ages.

Our proposal
Our present need is to purchase a piece of land and build an educational center. The new facility will be in Sadu Village, Soreang District in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. We chose Soreang as the site for the educational center due to the area’s lack of quality in public resources. The educational center will include five classes for middle school students, an administrative office, a library, a prayer room, and a community center. The center will serve as a place for education and the exchange of progressive ideas such as the promotion of moderate community, human rights and women’s rights in Islam. We hope to reach our goal by raising fund in the amount of $350,000.00, so that the educational center will open by the academic year of 2017-2018.
We are hoping that you will contribute generously to support the founding of the educational center. We will acknowledge your contribution on the Wall of Contributors.
